An animated adaptation of The Addams Family (1991), The Addams Family (2019) is another adventure with monsters dealing with humans.

The movie starts with Gomez Addams and Morticia Frump marrying in front of the Addams clan and the Frump clan. Then the humans start attacking the Addams and the Frumps, disapproving of their macabre nature, the Addams and Frumps rush to their respective homes. 13 years later, at the Addams happily macabre house, the practice for Pugsley Addams’ (son of Gomez and Morticia) mazurka is going on.

Meanwhile, a scheming home designer and television host named Margaux Needler is working on a perfect planned town named ‘Assimilation’ and wants to sell every house in it, but the Addams house is coming in the way. So Margaux tricks them into renovating their house (which to Margaux was breaking it entirely). Much to Margaux’s disappointment, Morticia sees through the trick and turns down the offer.

When Wednesday (Gomez and Morticia’s daughter) convinces Morticia to send her to junior high school, Morticia replies that they’ll have to go around assimilation. Then when they send Wednesday to school, Wednesday meets Margaux’s neglected daughter Parker Needler.  Chaos reigns as the fight goes on between The Addams and the humans.

I like the animation style of the movie. The portrayal of the characters was realistic. The part where Fester (Gomez’s brother) starts a relationship with Margaux is extremely unexpected. And also Thing (the floating hand) is very smart of the writers and the story boarders. It teaches Lurch, the Addams’ butler, wingman and Frankenstein’s monster lookalike, how to play the keyboard. The animation makes the duvet of comedy, but the actual storyline is very serious. I think the method of covering up the actual plot with animation is very smart. I think it is a way of making people think that it is a movie for little kids, but it is actually for kids who will understand, teens and adults.

I wholeheartedly recommend this movie because:

1.       The animation is very good.

2.       It has many unexpected twists.

3.       The portrayal of all the characters is brilliant. 4x brilliant. I thought all the         characters are real.

4.       The structure of the movie is perfect. It followed the path it had to follow. The dialogues were also in sync with the film.

5.       Overall, THE MOVIE IS BRILLIANT!
