Last week, I developed an intense interest in the Harry Potter franchise. When I went over to my friend’s place, I borrowed the second book in the series viz. ‘The Chamber of Secrets'. Read the book printed in 1998, and then watched the movie released in 2002.  Here’s the plot.

Harry Potter is locked in his room by his horrible uncle, Vernon Dursley. Harry’s best friend Ron Weasley and his brothers, rescue Harry from his house and take Harry to the Weasley house, where Ron and his brothers Fred and George get a hard tongue-lashing for taking out the flying car. Back at Hogwarts, Harry finds out that:

  1.           His new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is Gilderoy Lockhart, an author which he dreads
  2.       Muggle-born wizards are being Petrified, and something called the ‘Chamber of Secrets’ has been opened by the Heir of Salazar Slytherin.

Want to know more? Watch the movie!

I really liked both the book and the movie. The characters and actors are great. Did you know that a popular meme is from this movie? The one where Harry and Ron are screaming at the Hogwarts Express approaching behind them! He Who Must Not Be Named (Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort/The Dark Lord) in his 16-year-old form looks awfully great, and so does Draco Malfoy. The Polyjuice potion was great! I would transform into my friends.  Chapter Eight ‘The Deathday Party’ is omitted, for some reason. No flaws at all.

I wholeheartedly recommend this movie because:

  1. 1.       The acting is great.
  2. 2.       The storyline is awesome!
  3. 3.       There are many funny scenes!
  4. 4.       The battle against the Basilisk is epic.
  5. 5.       Overall, THE MOVIE (and book) IS RUGEDDLY GREAT!
