Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)
Director: Chris Columbus
Producer: David Heyman
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe (Harry
Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) Ian Hart (Professor
Quirrell).
The first movie in the Harry Potter
series, Philosopher’s Stone (a.k.a Sorcerer’s stone) based on the book is
super!
The movie starts with Albus
Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry placing
Harry Potter at his remaining family’s doorstep. Ten years later, Harry receives
a letter to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which his
horrible muggle family reluctantly agrees to. Journeying to Hogwarts School on
the Hogwarts Express train, Harry makes friends with Ronald ‘Ron’ Weasley and
Hermione Granger, and becomes enemies with Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe and
Gregory Goyle. At Hogwarts, Harry, Ron and Hermione get sorted into Gryffindor
House and Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle get sorted into Slytherin House (the houses
are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin). One day, Harry, Ron, and
Hermione gets lost in the school and they encounter a three-headed dog named Fluffy
owned by the Hogwarts gamekeeper, Rubeus Hagrid, guarding a mysterious trap-door.

Harry Potter is definitely extremely
exciting but Philosopher’s stone is a bit boring. I am fine with that since it
was the first Harry Potter book. I read the book and watched the movie. I
actually managed to read the book at the same time as the movie! Hagrid is
silly, very silly. So is Argus Filch, the caretaker of Hogwarts. No flaws, except the fact that the climax is
a bit clichéd.
I wholeheartedly recommend this movie
because:
- The acting is epic.
- The plotline is awesome!
- The portrayal of Hogwarts was Great!
- And so was Hagrid.
- Albus
Dumbledore is epic.
- Great
movie and book, man
- Overall, THE MOVIE IS EPIC!
