The first Pixar film with an all- Latino cast, Coco
(2017) is an adventure with (dead) family.
The movie opens with a boy named Miguel
explaining his passion for music, the ancestral ban on music in his family and
his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Then the
movie moves on and shows Elena Rivera (Miguel’s grandmother) trying to prevent Miguel
or anyone else from playing music. When Miguel is shining shoes (Miguel shines
shoes rather than make shoes) at the Plaza de la Cruz, a musician was also getting
his shoes shined by Miguel and noticed the shoe-shiner’s passion for music.
Later, when Elena finds out about the music
stuff, she destroyed Miguel’s makeshift guitar. The same day, when Dia de los
Muertos (Day of the Dead) starts formally, Miguel entered Ernesto de la Cruz’s
mausoleum, takes the guitar, and strummed it. The next second, he found himself
in a situation in which he becomes inaudible and invisible to the living, but
can communicate with his dead family. So how will he get out? Watch the
movie!
I like the theme of the movie. It was well
planned out. Start to end; everything had a correlation with each other. The
Land of the Dead was shown as a very colourful place as compared to other films
which portray the Land of the Dead as a very dark place. Elena’s hatred for music
was clear due to her actions, which made the film more dramatic. The film was
again amazing, no flaws, and only good things.
I wholeheartedly recommend this
movie because:
- The plot is very amazing.
- The voice acting is in sync with the film.
- The animation style is excellent.
- The scenes are represented amazingly
- Overall, THE MOVIE IS CAPTIVATING!
