Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
Director: David Yates
Producers:
David Heyman, David Barron
Cast:
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) Alan Rickman (Severus Snape)
Rupert Grint (Ron) Emma Watson (Hermione)
The
wizarding world is on fire! Death Eaters kidnap famed wand-maker Garrick
Ollivander and destroy the Millennium Bridge in London. Later, Death Eaters Narcissa
Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange visit Potions Professor Severus Snape in his house,
where Narcissa forces Snape to make an Unbreakable Vow to protect Draco Malfoy
(Narcissa’s son) from any harm and fulfil his assignment of killing Albus
Dumbledore if Draco fails to do so.
Harry
Potter accompanies Dumbledore to persuade former Potions Professor Horace
Slughorn to return to his former duty as Potions Master. Slughorn reluctantly
agrees to that. Harry goes to visit the Weasleys, where he meets Ron and
Hermione. They talk a bit about Dumbledore and then they leave for Diagon Alley
in London, only to find it deserted with the only sign of life being near the
joke shop Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes run by Ron’s older twin brothers Fred and
George Weasley. Harry observes Malfoy going to Knockturn Alley which makes
Harry suspicious about Voldemort recruiting Draco as a Death Eater. Back at
Hogwarts, Harry borrows a sixth-year potion book belonging to the mysterious ‘half-blood
prince’, which helps him excel in class and win a Liquid Luck potion. Want to

Alan
Rickman’s deep voice was perfect for the role of Severus Snape. Draco’s scene
in the room of requirement was quite nice. His discovery of the vanishing
cabinet in the Room of Requirement which has a connection to another one in
Knockturn Alley is amazing and also… bad. That allowed the Death Eaters to infiltrate
Hogwarts and
take over it.
Did you know that the line ‘You dare use my own spells against me, Potter?’ is meme gold? It
is the most popular one after the Hogwarts Express one from Chamber of Secrets.
No flaws, except that a major battle, the Battle of the Astronomy Tower was
nearly cut
out.
I
wholeheartedly recommend this movie because:
1.
The movie acting is astonishing.
2.
The movie’s screenplay is incredible.
3.
The darkness that was intensified everywhere,
settling the darkness for the final films, was mindblowing.
4.
Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, providing a little
laugh, was a great change in atmosphere was very, very silly.
5.
Overall, THIS MOVIE IS MINDBLOWING (and dark)!
