A reboot of the beloved Disney Channel/Disney XD series, Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe (2020) is a mind-blowing surprise. The movie starts with Candace singing a song about how nice the day is.   Then she realizes that Phineas, Ferb, Baljeet, Isabella, Buford and some of the Fireside Girls have built a Giant Clown robot and Candace tries to bust them as usual, but due to Doofenshmirtz’s Vacuum-inator, the clown turns into lint and gets sucked away. A literally mindblowing Disney Pixar movie, Inside Out (2015) is a perfect for your mind movie. The movie starts with the birth of a girl named Riley. Joy, the protagonist, explains about herself, her friends, and Riley’s mind. One day, Riley must move to San Francisco from Minnesota. This angers her emotions- Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger and Fear. One fine day, Sadness accidentally creates a new sad core memory-a thing that creates Riley’s personality (which is usually happy) and drops all others. This takes Joy and Sadness out of the Mind Headquarters where they work and end up into Long term Memory, a place where Riley’s memories are stored. Based on the first book of the hit book series by Jeff Kinney, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a must watch laugh-riot! The movie starts with Greg giving this narration: “First, let me get something straight: This is a JOURNAL, not a diary. I know what it says on the cover, but when Mom went out to buy this thing, I SPECIFICALLY told her to get one that didn't say "diary" on it. Great. All I need is for some jerk to catch me carrying this book around and get the wrong idea. ” Greg also explains his dream about eventually becoming hugely successful later in life. It is also his first day of middle school. On the first day itself Greg realises the downsides of the school such as the mi

Mr. Peabody and Sherman (2014)

Image
Director: Rob Minkoff Producers: Denise Nolan-Cascino, Alexandra Schwartz. Starring: Ty Burrell (Mr. Peabody), Max Charles (Sherman), Ariel Winter (Penny Peterson). Mr. Peabody and Sherman which is the first DreamWorks Animation film I am reviewing is a great time-travel adventure. The movie starts with an opening narration by Mr. Peabody about himself and his adoptive son, Sherman. They explain about the Wavelength Acceleration Bidirectional Asynchronous Controller (WABAC) machine, saying that it is a time machine. It is also Sherman’s first day of school. Sherman gets into a fight with a girl named Penny Peterson, and Sherman bites Penny. Mr. Peabody invites Penny’s parents, Patty and Paul Peterson to set scores. With Sherman and Penny, when Penny asks him about how he was answering every question in class, Sherman accidentally tells Penny about the WABAC, (even though Mr. Peabody had warned Sherman not to tell Penny or the middle would be grounded) and forces Sherman to ta

A rip-roaring comedy film, A Paying Ghost is a 2015 Marathi film inspired by a story by the late Va Pu Kale, whose imagination knew no boundary. The movie starts with a description of Madhav, who is constantly bullied by his neighbours because he can never deny a request. At work, his colleague Vasant is playing cupid with Madhav and another colleague, Madhavi. Once, after returning home late from the office, the former meets a ghost named Gajanan who is persuading Madhav to let him and his family stay in his house. Madhav agrees, and the family moves in, creating comical situations (mostly due to only Madhav being able to see them), such as a time in which Ganpule, Madhav’s neighbour is getting more water than Madhav himself. So 3 of Gajanan and Gamini’s daughters sit in the

Shakuntala Devi (2020)

Image
Director: Anu Menon Producer: Vikram Malhotra Starring: Vidya Balan (Shakuntala Devi), Sanya Malhotra (Anupama Banerjee), Jisshu Sengupta (Paritosh Banerjee), Amit Sadh (Ajay). The biopic on the ‘human computer’, Shakuntala Devi is amazing. The movie starts in 1934, where 5-year-old Shakuntala is solving problems a 12 th grader can’t solve. Then Shakuntala is invited to do a few math shows. 20 years later, in 1954, she is continuing to do math shows and the next year she moves to London. She continues her math shows there with a Spanish man named Javier. In India, Shakuntala meets Paritosh, a man and shortly marries him. Once in 1970, her daughter Anupama or Anu for short, is born. Shakuntala continues the math shows worldwide, robbing Anu of her childhood, just like Shakuntala’s parents did to her. Want to know more? WATCH THE MOVIE!   I like the plot of the movie. The representation of the mother-daughter relationship is great. The actor chosen for Devi’s role is perfect. N
