Amazing. A really well thought out movie,
Elizabeth Ekadashi is super!
Dnyanesh is a young boy who lives in
poverty with his mother, grandmother, and younger sister Mukta. The title’s eponymous
bicycle, Elizabeth, was gifted to Dnyanesh by his father, who built that cycle
and later, passed away. The cycle remains the only memory of the father that lives
on with them. As I said, the financial condition of the family is very weak, so
Dnyanesh’s mother does some odd jobs to help to keep the household running. One
day, as the mother is unable to repay the loan taken for a sweater machine, the
bank takes the sweater machine away, making the family lose their only source
of income. Another day, Dynanesh asks his mother if he could set up a bangle shop
to overcome the financial needs of 5000 rupees but his mother is very angry at
Dnyanesh and tells him to focus on studies and not get sidetracked by other
issues. Dnyanesh doesn’t oblige and sets up a shop for bangles and is a success,
but he warns everyone he knew not to tell his mom. One day, a day comes when,
Dnyanesh’s mother is forced to sell Elizabeth the cycle out of monetary issues.
Then, Dnyanesh and his gang try to earn enough money from the shop to save
their dear cycle Elizabeth. Want to know more? Watch the movie!
I really liked this movie. I would
recommend a handful of lessons in basic Marathi for anyone who doesn’t know Marathi,
as this movie is in that language. Anyways, the movie takes place in
Pandharpur, where the annual pilgrimage called ‘wari’ takes place. The wari is undertaken
as a journey to pray to the god Vitthal. The Wari is a pilgrimage to Vitthala’s
biggest temple in the city of Pandharpur, which takes place in the Hindu
Panchang months of Ashadh and Kartik. I explained this just so you will be
informed about the wari that is mentioned in the movie a considerable number of
times.
I wholeheartedly recommend this
movie because:
1.
The
acting is great.
2.
The
story is phenomenal.
3.
The
screenplay is monumental.
4.
(Nearly)
everything is awesome!
5.
Overall,
THE MOVIE IS PHENOMENAL!
