WALL-E (2008)

Director: Andrew Stanton

Producer: Jim Morris

Starring: Ben Burtt (WALL-E, M-O), Elissa Knight (EVE), Fred Willard (Shelby Forthright), Jeff Garlin (Captain B. McCrea), John Ratzenberger (John)

The first Pixar film to use live-action, WALL-E is a great movie.

It is the year 2805. Earth is a trash-covered wasteland. 700 years earlier, humanity was taken to space by the Buy n Large megacorporation because the Earth had become too toxic to support life. A bunch of robots were sent to clean earth in 2105, but now one remains operational because all others were shut down. Let’s call him WALL-E. Wall-e has achieved sentience, and he’s a bit lonely. He also gets driven away from his work and stores his ‘treasures’ (few things he finds in the trash for example a birdcage full of rubber ducks and a Rubik’s cube.) in a place formerly used to store other WALL-E robots. One day, WALL-E spots a light and starts chasing it. The light reveals to be a landing spot for a space robot possibly sent from another planet named EVE. WALL-E befriends EVE and after showing a plant, EVE takes the plant and goes back to her ship. WALL-E hitches a ride and they reach the Axiom, the place where the human race is now. I like the way greed is portrayed in the movie. Buy n Large is doing the things any megacorporation of today would do. Buy n Large is absolutely doing good in business, but don’t they know the only thing they are doing is enslaving humankind to technology? Seriously. Good thing Pixar, that you guys used live-action only for Fred Willard and no other human. But don’t you think 700 years in a spaceship is a bit too much? I like the way you raised awareness about pollution through film. Well done, Pixar. The movie’s cat and mouse chase scene involving WALL-E and M-O was awesome! I only think the animation could be better because the humans were in Pixar style, but the robots were not at all.

I wholeheartedly recommend this movie because:

  1. The plot is nice.
  2.  The way it depicts environmental issues is great.
  3. The theme is nice.
  4. The bond between WALL-E and EVE s good.
  5. Overall, THE MOVIE IS FANTABOULOUS!
