The Lego Movie (2014)

Directors: Phil Lord, Christropher Miller

Producers: Dan Lin, Roy Lee

Cast: Chris Pratt (Emmet), Will Ferrell (Lord Business), Elizabeth Banks (Lucy), Will Arnett (Batman).

THE MOST AMBITIOUS CROSSOVER EVENT IN HISTORY. Seriously, would you expect Gandalf, Dumbledore, and Green Lantern chilling in a single room? Great movie here.

The ancient LEGO wizard Vitruvius fails to stop the tyrannical dictator Lord Business from obtaining the Kragle, the deadliest weapon in the universe. He divides all the worlds of LEGO by walls. 8 years later, construction worker Emmet Brickosuzuki reads a state guide on how to be ‘cool’, by wearing trendy clothes, drinking overpriced coffee, ride the Bricksburg Monorail, and more.

Emmet one day after a day of work, falls into a pit and finds the glowing Piece of Resistance, a thing that a certain girl going by the name of ‘Wyldstyle’ is also looking for. Supposedly the ‘chosen one’ from the ‘master builders’, the head cop of Bricksburg, Bad Cop/Good Cop takes Emmet into custody and sentences him to execution. Wyldstyle appears out of nowhere and rescues him. With her Master Builder powers, Wyldstyle creates a motorcycle, and crashes into the brick wall between Cowboy Land (Tijuana + San Antonio) and Bricksburg. Want to know more? Watch the movie!

Everything is awesome, everything is cool when you’re part or a team…

This movie is a lot of fun. It also has a lot of twists and turns. Like for example, I was caught completely off-guard when Batman realized that they didn’t have a hyperdrive for a spaceship, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and the Millenium Falcon from Star Wars turned up. When you say, ‘lalalalala, this movie is predictable’, remember to expect the unexpected. This ONE flaw, I it was avoided, could make this into the perfect movie.

Drumroll, please?

(Awkward silence)

Huh?

(drumroll)

The flaw was THE LAST INSPIRATIONAL SPEECH! I have seen that cliché in so many movies it is hard to count. If not for this, the movie would have been perfect.

I wholeheartedly recommend this movie for:

1.       Super voice acting.

2.       Amazing screenplay.

3.       Funny jokes XD.

4.       Everything is awesome...

5.       Overall, THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!
